Is there anything more driving directions evocative of Hawaii than taking to the waves on a surfboard? If crossing this item off your bucket list is a priority, research beaches in your destination area to choose one that suits your skill level. If you're just starting out and don't mind embarrassing yourself in front of a lot of people, the world-famous Waikiki Beach is a great place to learn.
