Hi 1ES4,

In this post I want to tell you about the 2ES project I visited this Wednesday. Sorry that I am posting that late but I have big probems with internet. Wütend

It started at 5PM and lasted until 9PM the title was GoGreen, which was interpreted as some guests from the audience as 'Smoke Green' haha

Upon entrance you could get a 'green drink' and a green cake for free. The biggest part from the event took place in K41 which was decorated very nicely in green.
At about 5:15 after everybody had seated themselves they turned the lights off and projected a video fom youtube about the golbal warming.

They had arrenged to have 2 guest speaker who gave lectures but the other roles (hosts and entertainment organizer or sth) were taken by the students from the class.

The lectures lasted about 50 minutes each and were accompanied by slides. The firs lecurer was a woman and her presentation was very informative and not boring though a bit longer than most of the audience could stand. What made a good impresson on me was that her English was very good which was the big contrast between her and the second presenter. He has a very heavy accent and I could only understand about 50% of what he said. Both lectures were related to the topic abut contained a lot of scientific infromation(especially the second one). Important thing to mention is that all guest speakers received presents at the end of their presentations

After the first lecture it was time for an activity called 'The Hague University going green'. It lasted about 40 min and students were supposed to give different suggestions how to make the HHS amore evnvironmentally-friendly place.

Afterwards, it was time for the "Green Organic Buffet". It took place in the HEBO canteen which was beautifully decorated. 2 Chinese girls were performig popular pop songs on a piano and it creaed a very pleasant atmosphere.

Then, we were asked to return to K41 where the second lecture was presented. It was already 8:30 when it finished and I was very tired so I decided to skip the last activity 'The Green future of Europe" which was preceded by a dessert with Ice-cream from Ben&Jerry.

The Programme of the "GoGreen" project was as follows:

16:30-17:00 Reception
17:00-17:15 Opening:Welcoming speech
17:15-18:00 Speech 1
18:00-18:30 1st Activity
18:30-19:15 Green Organic Buffet
19:20-20:00 Speech 2
20:00-20:25 Dessert
20:30-20:50 Activity 2
20:50-21:00 Closing speech

The budget that the School gave them is 1200 E but they also managed to arrange 10 sponsors:

Sustainable Energy Europe
FloraBase
National Geographic
ECN
Ben and Jerry
Moonen packaging
Van Senten
Clingendael(Nedelands Institute of International Relations)
HOOGVLIET
Frutsel

If somebody is interested in visiting some of the other events that 2ES are organizing, contact Mr Hanssen p.j.m.hanssen@hhs.nl

I hope you have got a general idea of what the event was about but I would also ask our Chair and Secretary to plan some 10 min for me during the next Project meeting because I would like to discuss the GoGreen project with you and the advantages you think it may have for our project.

Thanks for reading
Niya

I'm on the bar near university having a beer (I have to make time until 5, you bastards), and some of the 2ES2 (the guys of today's event) have just come to ask something to the barman. I'm trying to guess what are they talking about.
Keep it reading.

So exciting...I am intrigued.
Sorry to make you wait for so long
And good luck with your SSM (spy secret mission)

P.S. As a small reward for all your effort, I suggest that you don't bother to do anything for MGP. Deal?

Buh...they didn't get anything. They came with two boxes, apparently to take something, but they come back with empty hands.
I understood that they had something arranged with someone. I tried to picked up my ears, but I didn't hear well. These Chinese people talk so lowly...
OK, after my spy work (you'll have to pay me for this), it's moment to sleep during the event.
Agur!

come one Bender, post it in the right topic

I just finished summarize the big event which we spied.
They have good sponsors, and particular information in brochure.(I will bring it tomorrw to our class)

Their theme is : United in diversity
In the beginning, they have some clothes racks beside the reception table. So people can put their clothes on it by themselves and get one number. Then they sign in and get a paster with their logo.

In the programme:
17:00-17:20 coffee time with slide show
They show some pictures about different countries in EU, and no explication. It's just like a background. They used small round table which just can stand. They serve some cakes(but I think it is to much cream because I saw many plates just left them)and cookies. The drinks just warm milk, coffee and (Dutch)tea, they used tea china(it looks good, but not convenient to use in that small room)

17:20-17:30 Introduction(the student from their class)

17:30-18:00 Lecture on Unity by Shradha Bhatnagar(speaker)
They have one whole page to introduce her in the brochure. But the lecture was very short. They finished about 17:50.

18:05-18:25 1st workshop "European cocktail"
They didn't allowed us to join the work shop,But I ask one second year chinese student, they just had one man to teach them how to concoct cocktail and let them use their imagination to make it. Then they present it in a special name. Then every students who presented can have a gift.(USB disk)

18:30-19:45 United in Deversity dinner
We didn't taste the food but we got the menue in the brochure.
Starter: potato salad with baked serrano ham,Turkish bread and French tapenade. (They have some kinds of wine but I thnik we can not have alcohol drinks in our event)
Main course: 3variations of Italian penne with tomato, baked salmon or pork, chive creamy sauce(vegetaian:instead of salmon-vegetables)
Dessert: fruity pleasure(it was beautiful)

19:50-20:05 movie on deversity
They made by themselves. It's about ideas of the theme. They visited some students from our school.

After these they have
20:05-20:35 2nd workshop "European rapper"
20:35-20:55 closing with prize giving
10:55-21:00 dancing
but we just left because we can't join them and see how it is going.

Well, what can I say after this..
The lecture was boring, but it's difficult to make a funny one. The speaker was a (young, enthusiastic, blablabla) lobbyist in the European Parliament. She studied in Den Haag and Maastricht (as the brochure says), but then she said she studied in Leiden after Den Haag. ¿?
She had 30 minutes but she only spent 20, ending the lecture with some subject left. Nothing interesting...
Then they had that cocktail thing. Right, could be funny but...cocktails and rap for workshops?
After that I picked up my ears again (remember I'm Bender and I have an antenna...or two?) and I hear some comments:
"Boooooring"
"I wanna go home"
"They should be careful with the alcohol because the other day one guy got drunk in my event"
Finally we decided to go home. A friend of mine told me that they (today's event organisers) have spent €1700 in catering. I don't know whether I heard right, but she said that they receive €1200 from university. Then could be possible. And if they have 11 sponsors...
Oh! Dinner looked good, with wine, beers, coke and juices. They were in the HEBO cantine. Big tables in a U form, with teacher in the middle. There was music, the only song I heard was one by "Portishead", but I don't remember the name (it's a group from Bristol, the kind of music is trip-hop...if you still don't know what kind of music is, just download one song).
That's all, more o less.
I didn't like the event.
Fuck them! (If they got so much money as I guess, they didn't use it well, or at least they could have made a better use of its).
