Shirley, I hope you don't mind but I am going to post all the minutes up to now because I think it is a valuable reference to everyone ;)

MEETING
NOVEMBER 28 AND 29, 2007

Absences

Dimas Suryo – November 28 (sent text message to Hanna).
Theresa – November 29 (did not inform anyone).

Brainstorm-session

“What impact does e-Dialogue have on me?”
• e-Dialogue makes it possible to look into another / each others world.
• Takes a lot of time to be updated.
• Crashes racism.
• Easy accessible exchange of ideas.
• Makes life easier.
• Makes distances shorter despite e.g. time differences.
• Internet is unlimited, language barrier is disappearing.
• Everybody is anonymous.
• Addiction to internet / information.
• Loss of real social contact.
• Opens possibilities (with regarding to the future).

“Does e-Dialogue bring us closer together as Europeans or does it merely highlight the growing divide between the information-rich and the information-poor?”

It brings us closer together (social e-inclusion):
• Communication.
• Opens possibilities.
• Information exchange.
• Easy access.
• Brings young people closer to politics.
• Knowledge of other cultures.

It highlights differences (social e-exclusion):
• Personal and social competencies can get lost.
• Exchange of wrong information.
• Not accessible for everyone.
• Generation wise: it doesn’t bring us closer together.
• Social elimination.

“How can e-Dialogue bring us closer together?”
• Have a look on the positive aspects.
• How can the negative aspects change?

Guest speakers

On Tuesday (November 27) Bas arranged some guest speakers. These speakers are not linked to an university etc. so they have their own sponsors. We need to promote these sponsors at our event and then these guest speakers will do it for free.

Bas and Marnix (members of the Programme Committee) will arrange a meeting with these guest speakers to mention what we expect from them on our event.

Treasurer

In the very near future (as soon as possible) Ina need to hand in a quite concrete proposal to Mr. Kuijpers, because then she can receive our money.
Arrangement: the 3 sub-treasurers have to hand in their sub-proposal to Ina on Sunday (December 2).

Sponsors

If you might have any connections with sponsors / companies, please do not hesitate and contact them! Anjuli already searched for sponsors (Sligro and C1000), but she is still waiting for a reply.

Project 2ES

On November 21 Niya visited a project of second years HEBO-students. Very shortly, the following are her findings:
• They got 10 sponsors.
• Good catering.
• Poor guest speaker (bad English).
• There was shown a video.

Jessy’s quittance

As you all know already, Jessy quitted at HEBO. This means that our Logistics Committee from now on only consists of 2 members: Mies and Emi. They do not care about the fact that they are just with the two of them, but if necessary they might need some help from other committee members. We are a good team so this will not be a problem.
Content (formats) of our event

1. Lecture
2. Workshop
3. Panel discussion
4. Performance

Lecture
Given by the guest speakers who Bas arranged.
The positive as well as the negative aspects of e-Dialogue will be discussed.

Workshop
There will be given 3 workshops (the workshops should be positively focused):
1. Easier access for young people in European politics.
2. Connecting cultures.
3. Economies (trading, e-commerce, exchanging information).
Per workshops the following people will be involved:
• People who are visiting our event (the audience).
• 1 Guest speaker / professional.
• 1 Member of our team.

Panel discussion
The following people will be involved:
• Guest speakers.
• Members of our team (not chosen yet).

Performance
The atmosphere during this performance will be very relaxed; 2 people will be sitting on a stage chatting with each other via the MSN. During the performance we will offer our audience tasty snacks and drinks.
Mies will ask a person who might can help us with the performance.

Main aim
“Getting into another / each others world.”

Main question
“Does e-Dialogue bring us closer together as Europeans or does it merely highlight the growing divide between the information-rich and the information-poor?”

MEETING
DECEMBER 5, 2007

Absences

Wiktoria Cembrzynska (informed us via Siya).
Theresa (did not inform anyone).

Badges

Mies bought nice badges for our event.

Visit guest speakers

Bas and Marnix visited our potential guest speakers on December 6. It is not really sure if they will come, but we will hear from them very soon.
The following has been the overview for our guest speakers (set up by Marnix):

Agenda of the event:

o Lecture from our guestspeaker about eDialogue in Europa: the advantages and disadvantages of eDialogue will be discussed and our guestspeaker will take on the question whether eDialogue/ the Internet can really bring Europeans together or if it will only widen the gap between the ’information-rich’ and the ‘information-poor’.(time: maximum of 40 minutes)

o Workshops: our suggestion is to divide the audience (40-50 attending) in three groups that will each visit another workshop. The topics we have chosen for these workshops are: the economical, the political and the cultural dimension of eDialogue and the Internet in Europe. Each workshop will deal with one of these three dimensions. (time 30-45 minutes)

o Panel Discussion: A panel discussion, lead by a moderator, concerning our main question: “Is eDialogue/the Internet bringing us closer together as Europeans?” In this discussion we would like the guestspeaker and the leaders of the workshop to take part. Possibly, some other external guests or students from 1ES4 will also take part. Also, the visitors of our event will be given the opportunity to direct questions at the members of the panel or to give their own opinion (time approximately 30 minutes)

o Yet to define ‘performance’, no input from questspeakers needed (time approximately 10 minutes)

All this will take place the 30th of January 2008 from 13:00 to 15:30 in the The Hague Univeristy of Professional Education, Johanna Westerdijkplein 75, The Hague. The offical language during the whole of the event will be English.

Performance

The Programme Committee decided that Dimas and David will write the script as well as making the PowerPoint for our event.

Finance proposal

Ina already received the finance proposals from the Logistics and the PR and Catering Committee. The Programme Committee will send their proposal after their visit with the guest speakers.

Main task Logistics Committee

• Arrange the room from the English Grammer Test (responsible: Niya).
• Dividers for the workshop (responsible: Mies).

Sponsorship
Everybody has to search for sponsors. Mies, Anjuli and Shirley might know some attractive sponsors.

Catering

Marnix is able to contact the manager of our school canteen.

Decoration

Anjuli and Shirley might know some interesting people we can involve in our decoration part of our event.
