Dear Project Members

Any information you have found about E-dialogue can be posted HERE. Post a link and some background information about what you're linking to.

you can make links bij clicking on the URL-button on top of the reply form and then put your link in between the two URL thingees, like so:

>your link<

Just as a reminder, this is the theme of our project as it is stated in our Project Manual:

eDialogue in Europe

Does the Internet bring us closer together as Europeans or does it merely highlight the growing divide between the information-rich and the information-poor? On which different levels can you see the change? Personal, societal, governmental, etc.?

these were the ones I have found so far:

http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/news/2001/jun/142_en.html
this link is from the European Commission, it's about Internet acces in the EU and 'digital-haves' and 'digital-have nots'

and

http://www.europeanvoice.com/archive/article.asp?id=28673
this link is from 'the European Voice' it's also about the digital divide, so the gap between people with Internet-acces and those who dont. There is a reference to a Eurostat report from 2005 about Internet acces in the EU, which might be useful for our project.

I found the next quote on this site: http://www.einclusion-eu.org/Document.asp?MenuID=72

Quote
New on-line forums, e-dialogue, e-discussion between policy makers and citizens can improve the democratic debate, provided that the other forms of discussion and dialogue are maintained. Moreover, e-services in the field of democracy are not limited to contacts with administrations and policy makers; they also concern the associative life. In this area, new potentialities are open for associations, social services and non-profit organisations in general.

which is also about the digital divide in the EU and tells a bit about e-dialogue (actually the first time ive seen this term used)

Hi 1ES4,

In this post I want to tell you about the 2ES project I visited this Wednesday. Sorry that I am posting that late but I have big probems with internet. Wütend

It started at 5PM and lasted until 9PM the title was GoGreen, which was interpreted as some guests from the audience as 'Smoke Green' haha

Upon entrance you could get a 'green drink' and a green cake for free. The biggest part from the event took place in K41 which was decorated very nicely in green.
At about 5:15 after everybody had seated themselves they turned the lights off and projected a video fom youtube about the golbal warming.

They had arrenged to have 2 guest speaker who gave lectures but the other roles (hosts and entertainment organizer or sth) were taken by the students from the class.

The lectures lasted about 50 minutes each and were accompanied by slides. The firs lecurer was a woman and her presentation was very informative and not boring though a bit longer than most of the audience could stand. What made a good impresson on me was that her English was very good which was the big contrast between her and the second presenter. He has a very heavy accent and I could only understand about 50% of what he said. Both lectures were related to the topic abut contained a lot of scientific infromation(especially the second one). Important thing to mention is that all guest speakers received presents at the end of their presentations

After the first lecture it was time for an activity called 'The Hague University going green'. It lasted about 40 min and students were supposed to give different suggestions how to make the HHS amore evnvironmentally-friendly place.

Afterwards, it was time for the "Green Organic Buffet". It took place in the HEBO canteen which was beautifully decorated. 2 Chinese girls were performig popular pop songs on a piano and it creaed a very pleasant atmosphere.

Then, we were asked to return to K41 where the second lecture was presented. It was already 8:30 when it finished and I was very tired so I decided to skip the last activity 'The Green future of Europe" which was preceded by a dessert with Ice-cream from Ben&Jerry.

The Programme of the "GoGreen" project was as follows:

16:30-17:00 Reception
17:00-17:15 Opening:Welcoming speech
17:15-18:00 Speech 1
18:00-18:30 1st Activity
18:30-19:15 Green Organic Buffet
19:20-20:00 Speech 2
20:00-20:25 Dessert
20:30-20:50 Activity 2
20:50-21:00 Closing speech

The budget that the School gave them is 1200 E but they also managed to arrange 10 sponsors:

Sustainable Energy Europe
FloraBase
National Geographic
ECN
Ben and Jerry
Moonen packaging
Van Senten
Clingendael(Nedelands Institute of International Relations)
HOOGVLIET
Frutsel

If somebody is interested in visiting some of the other events that 2ES are organizing, contact Mr Hanssen p.j.m.hanssen@hhs.nl

I hope you have got a general idea of what the event was about but I would also ask our Chair and Secretary to plan some 10 min for me during the next Project meeting because I would like to discuss the GoGreen project with you and the advantages you think it may have for our project.

Thanks for reading
Niya

And here is what I found about eDialogue:

iEARN (International Education and Resource Network),is the world's largest K-12 non-profit global network that enables young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in the world.

http://www.iearn.org/

I think it is an intresting site (though quite a big)and I am going to have a closer look at it during the rest of the weekend. Maybe some of you would like to give me a hand so that we can present the results on Wednesday

Hello 1es4,

Niya, thank you for visiting the project, I am really curious!!!!
Marnix, thank you for the explanation!

http://journals.sfu.ca/int_assess/index.php/iaj/article/viewFile/235/223

I was looking for the definition of e-dialogue and when I actually finally found something, I noticed that Marnix already had that one!!!

Anyway, that was my own fault, I should have read the other links first ofcourse!

I found something else. (See the link mentioned above).

Not the whole file is useful, but what they do question is: E-dialogues: A role in interactive sustainable development?

By using different arguments this question can be seen by different perspectives. As Marnix already found: social
e-inclusion or social e-exclusion. But also the aspect of increasing information sources:e.g. access for everybody.

Anyway , check it out, I will also try to contact the that studies HEBO. And I think Emi will try to contact somebody from doc20.

Byeeeeee!!!

Dear 1ES4,

Here's my part of some contribution to our lovely project.

and

http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/06/1491&format=HTML&aged=1&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

It's about internet governance and the development and application by governments.

Enjoy!

Hello, everyone!

You all seem to be super excited..That is good to know, I suppose!

I have found a couple of links, which I have not looked through thoroughly, since my net can drop any moment and I was in a hurry to post them here. So, here we go! P.S I cannot make them clickable! Sorry! :)

http://community.flexiblelearning.net.au/TeachingTrainingLearners/content/article_6880.htm

This is an Australian Flexible Learning community! It gives us different ideas as to what Dialogue is ( Emi, you were right! Dialogue is more than just conversation! ), what elements it has, what techniques we can use to make the e - dialogue more effective.

http://www.fendigital.co.uk/html/building_a_dialogue_with_custo.html

This is a very short message on a website about how companies can reach their colleagues via e - dialogue. It is ratehr practicval, it appears!

http://journals.cambridge.org/download.php?file=%2FCJP%2FCJP38_01%2FS0008423905050080a.pdf&code=8b39be7dc13b4b666cb278dbfe6e39fd

This is a journal which is quite long. I looked it through then saved the link and when I tried to retrieve it, I couldn't. WütendI hope it works, though!

Well, that is about it!

See you all tomorrow at 11.30!

Enjoy the rest of the day! freuendes Smilie

Dear all, these are some links I found after our meeting last week. Before providing the links I would like to provide you with a couple of things for reflection:

*Do not assume that you know what e-dialogue is about and how it works. RESEARCH and find different sources that can give you an understanding of it.

*Register into an external forum and participate in e-dialogue.

*See how other platforms can support your project – if you create a topic around e-dialogue then you can network with other organisations which can support your initiative. DOC20 has offered you a space for your e-dialogue event – why don’t you join forces and use this platform to practice e-dialogue with external people?

NOW THE LINKS!!

I chose these because they provide examples and definitions of e-dialogue. I hope this could be useful, but I would like to see what you guys have found!
