Dear Project Members,

This thread is for the Programma Committee, to give the latest information about what is going on in our Committee.

I suggest the other three committees open their own thread ('New Topic' button) to do the same thing.

Here is my report on the meeting with Jeroen Rosier from Generation Next this afternoon.

Location: Cantine of THe Hague University of Professional Education

Present were: Jeroen Rosier, Bas Verveen and Marnix van der Beek

We presented our plan for the event to Jeroen. He liked the idea and the subject and told us that there are definitely some people who could give a relevant lecture and workshop on this specific topic. However because of the fact that our target group is fairly small (around 50 visitors for the event) it is difficult to get a high-profile guestspeaker. He explained that companies are very interested to have people from their company speak at Universities but they generally prefer bigger events then ours. Still, he would try his best to get us a speaker and was optimistic about it. At the latest next wednesday we will know wether he is able to provide us with guestspeakers.

He also suggested that we would do two workshops instead of three to have bigger groups doing the workshop. This would mean we would have only two people as guests.
(or three if the lecturer doesnt do a workshop)

Aside from this he also mentioned the following:

*Generation Next brings their own sponsors to the event, but our own sponsoring is not involved by this. If we need any other sponsoring to raise the budget we can do this.

*If Generation Next provides the guest speakers, they expect us to put a GN logo on the invitation for the event and we could possibly put up some GN posters in the room for the event.

*Jeroen mentioned that normally the travelexpenses are put at a fixed price of 50 euro's p/p, regardless of where the guestsspeakers are coming from.

*After the event there should be the possibilty of drinks (I think we already agreed on this) Jeroen emphasized that its a good possibilty to 'network' after the event.

*Some other points that should probably be handled by the Logistics Comittee: Guestspeakers should be able to have acces to the Internet if they want to involve this in their lecture or workshop. Also we should have no problems such as conflicts between Mac and Windows, for example if a guestspeaker decides to bring his own laptop, he should be able to easily hook it up to our computer/beamer etc.

That's funny...
When I asked whether I could skip some classes because I already took them in Spain (during my Law studies), they told me I couldn't...
I feel discriminated against eastern people!

enough with offtopic blabla now ;D

I contacted the International Institute for Communication and Development:

Quote
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you on behalf of a class of first year HEBO students at the Hague University of Professional Education (Haagse Hogeschool). Right now we are working very hard to organise an event which has 'eDialogue' as a central theme.

For this event we are looking for guestspeakers who are experts in this field. We found out that your organisation is located in The Hague and we think you could provide very relevant input through guestspeakers at our event. As HEBO is part of a European Studies programme we are interested in people that could give a lecture on the theme: 'Is eDialogue bringing the European people together?' Also we are looking for someone to take place in a paneldiscussion on this same subject. Of course the point of view of your organisation can give an interesting perspective on this subject.

We hope to hear soon if your foundation is in any way able to contribute to our project. Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,

Marnix van der Beek

PS: I am writing you this email in English because we are part of the English stream of HEBO and the project will be in English. But please feel free to answer in Dutch if you want to.

So plan B is being worked on. I think we will have to contact even more organisations just to spread our chances. So if anyone else comes by something that might be interesting for our project (in terms of guestpeakers) let the PC know so we can write them as well.

and later tonight we will hear from Generation Next whether they will provide us with guestspeakers...

Bas called me this afternoon to inform me about the latest news from Generation Next, he was not in school himself due to illness. Bas had spoken again with Jeroen Rozier today. As far as I understood we are still at the same point as last week; Generation Next is interested in our event and they are 'working on it'. That sounds nice but it also means we have still no 100% confirmation that they will supply us with guestspeakers.

This sucks if you ask me, becuase it can still mean they let us know next week that they can not help us. I wish I could give you better news, but aparently Generation Next really likes to test our patience.

So, in the meantime we should work very hard on our plan B (and C and D, or 2 and 3 whatever).

I would like to have another meeting tomorrow with the
Programme Committee to discuss this. I know we are all very busy at the moment, but I really want to have more clarity about who is gonna be speaking at our event before the end of next week. When we wait till after the Christmas break, we will simply be too late.

So tomorrow, directly after the ED seminar, PC meeting.
