elegation-threatened visitors.A first league win at Stamford Bridge since early October lifted Chelsea up to third place, seven points behind second-place Manchester City but with a game in hand."We showed great appetite for the game from the first minute," said Frank Lampard, who also scored. "(With) our desire to be quick with the ball, the early goal helped. We are enjoying playing again and we needed that attitude to get us out of the sticky patch we were in."But it is the margin of the one-sided rout that will be most pleasing for Rafa Benitez, who now has two league wins in the five games since being hired to replace the fired Roberto Di Matteo despite the hostility of Chelsea fans."To win is special, but the main thing for me is to see the team progressing, improving," said Benitez, who was appointed until the end of the season. After Torres opener, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic also scored before half time, while Lampard, Ramires (twice), Oscar and Eden Hazard inflicted more damage with goals after the break to leave Villa just three points and two places above the relegation zone. Not since May 2010, when Wigan was also crushed 8-0, has Chelsea looked so convincing in the league. But Chelsea appears resurgent under Benitez, also putting five past Leeds in the League Cup earlier this week and six against Nordsjaelland in the Champions League earlier in the month.Having scored just seven goals in the opening four months of the season, Torres has now scored seven in the last six games in all competitions. The Spain striker maintained his rich vein of form when he soared unmarked to meet Cesar Azpilicuetas precise cross from the right flank and sent goalkeeper Brad Guzan to pick the ball out of his net for the first time."He is a striker and he needed to score goals ... he has more confidence," Benitez said.An energetic home display ensured a quiet day for goalkeeper Petr Cech, with the the return of the flair that defined Chelsea in the opening weeks of the season when the team topped the standings.Guzan, though, was coming under sustained pressure and was beaten again on the half-hour when Luiz curled a free kick into the top corner.Ivanovic headed past the American in the 34th after he initially parried a shot from former Villa defender Gary Cahill. The pressure was relentless from the hosts, although Guzan managed to turn over Juan Matas powerful, deflected shot five minutes into the second half.A low save also thwarted Lampards long-range strike through a crowded penalty area, while Torres had a second goal ruled out for offside. But Lampard marked his 500th league start with a 130th topflight goal for Chelsea, overtaking the club record set by Bobby Tambling between 1959 and 1970.After being teed up by Mata, the 34-year-old England international brought the ball down with his chest and sliced it into the net. With Lampards contract expiring at the end of the season, the fans responded with chants of "Sign him up" and showed their appreciation with cheers when he was substituted."Im under contract here. Im going to keep going game by game," he said. "I love playing here. Im pleased to be fit and I will keep trying to enjoy my football. I believe I have a lot in me to go."I dont want to get too deep. The clubs position is their position. Im here to play football to show people what I can do."A hapless Villa side did come close to pulling one back, but Cech diverted Matt Lowtons shot off the crossbar. But Lucas Piazon, who replaced Mata to make his Premier League debut, made a fine start when he sent an inch-perfect pass to Ramires, who slotted the ball through Guzans legs in the 75th.Oscar hit Chelseas sixth from the penalty spot four minutes later after being tripped over by Chris Herd.Even the six unanswered goals didnt reflect Chelseas complete supremacy, and Hazard produced another goal in the 83rd.Another penalty was awarded in the 89th when Piazon was brought down, but his resulting penalty kick was turned over by Guzan.Ramires did find the net, though, again in stoppage time after Oscar squared the ball to the Brazilian."Im not going to sit here and make excuses," Villa manager Paul Lambert said. "We were well beaten ... theyre a really young side. Sometimes getting beat tells you a lot." Customized Brandon Jackson Jersey .Rotrand Sené, a fourth-year running back from the University of Montreal, rounded out the list of nominees on Friday when he was announced as most valuable player of the RSEQ football conference.Graves, a fifth-year arts student from Barrie, Ont. Customized Joe Thomas Jersey .Buchholz (5-2) held the Blue Jays to six hits and two runs on solo homers by Yunel Escobar and David Cooper while striking out seven.Toronto starter Henderson Alvarez (3-5) allowed eight hits, including a home run by Ortiz, one walk and four runs in 6 1-3 innings, despite taking a hard drive off his left leg in the fifth inning. http://www.officialsaintteamshop.com/autographed-lance-moore-jersey-fx-78.html ."I told him it was his fault we were playing," DeRozan said, laughing.Laughing was about all the Toronto Raptors guard could do after dropping a 140-133 loss to the Utah Jazz in triple overtime -- a game that was in Torontos grasp until Jefferson drained just the second three-pointer of his career with 2. Customized Jimmy Clausen Jersey . Its also given a last-place team such as the Cubs an encouraging glimpse of the future. Customized John Hannah Jersey ."Brook-lyn! Brook-lyn!"Those were the lyrics of a rocking return to major pro sports."That gave me jitters, man. Chills," guard Joe Johnson said. "I know that these fans want the best for this team. Some Observations from the PGA Championship: Tiger Woods has been very good in the opening two rounds of the majors this year. Of course he held the lead at the halfway point of the U.S. Open and was in the fray at the British Open a month later. But the weekends havent been so hot. In fact, Woods has yet to break par in a Saturday or Sunday round at a major. Will that change at Kiawah? Woods is putting remarkably well. He has a stunning 23 one-putts in two days, at least statistically speaking. He took just 22 putts on Thursday and 26 on Friday.  There are lots of folks discounting Carl Petterssons chances of winning his first major, but I think hell be around come the weekend. In April, he won the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head on a course designed by Pete Dye, the same architect as the Ocean Course. More important is that Pettersson is a guy who can work the ball both ways with ease, something thats needed to battle the cross winds that are rolling over Kiawah Island.  Pettersson made an interesting point about those looking to ban long putters. He said in the wind they could be more difficult to use as the breezes buffet them even more. "I know the short putter blows around," said King Carl, "but its almost double, the wind hits it twice as much I think." By the way, theres no way that Pettersson can make the European Ryder Cup team. Hes not a member of the European Tour.  How good was Vijay Singhs round on Friday? He was the only guy in the field to break 70. By the way, thats something he did for all four rounds of the RBC Canadian Open where he posted a top-10 finish. The guy is 49 and would be the oldest major champion in history, but probably also one of the fittest. Singh was the only guy hittinng balls on the range on Thursday evening when the winds were blowing and he was on the range and the putting green for a long time after his Friday round.ddddddddddddNo surprise there.  Poor Michael Hoey. He posted one of just five under-par rounds on Friday but was later disqualified. During his round, Hoey lifted his ball to identify it but when he replaced it, he failed to recreate the lie. The result was a two-shot penalty and he was punted for signing an incorrect scorecard.  Phil Micke
