Voopoo has released 2 new box mod kits, the Alpha Zip dual 18650 battery 180W kit, and Alpha Zip Mini internal battery 120W kit. There are some slight differences between the mods themselves but the kit is pretty much the same. So how do these new kits compete against the best vape mods and is it worth the money? Well, we take a closer look to see in our full review.

Design:
The voopoo alpha zip kit and voopoo alpha zip mini kit sport the same design features, consisting of the traditional box mod look. The only real difference is the size, with the Alpha Zip measuring in at 85mm tall, 51mm wide and has a depth of 25mm. Whilst the Alpha Zip mini comes in with a length of 80mm, a width of 48mm wide and a depth of 24mm, so that little bit smaller.
Both are constructed of a zinc alloy and have a number of different design available which includes knight, Locomotive, Glory, Stars, and a Checkerboard. On the top of each mod is the 510 tank thread, again, keeping with VooPoos regular design they are not quite centered. Obviously, due to the width difference, the full size can hold tanks up to 25mm in diameter without any overhang, whilst the Alpa Mini can hold a tank with a diameter of 24mm. On the side of both mods is the square, large firing button, a nice large screen, and an up and down button, followed by the micro USB connector for charging and firmware updates.
On the bottom of the mod is some air vents to cool the PCB and on the full-size Alpha Zip, you will see a cut out to allow you to remove the battery side door where you can place your 2 18650 batteries.

Features:
Both the Alpha Zip and Mini use the same chipset and therefore the menus and screen displays are the same. Clicking the fire button 5 times turns the mod on and off where you will see the screen illuminate. The screen is rather basic but shows current wattage, the resistance of the coil, voltage, and puff timer along with dual battery indicators.
To return to wattage mode simply click the fire button 3 times until the wattage appears on the screen. Within wattage mode you can lock the device by holding the up button along with the fire button, the fire button is still active so you can still vape. Holding the fire button and down button rotates the screen.
The features are pretty standard, which we see a lot across all the best vapes, but it's all down to the performance!
Both the voopoo alpha Zip and Mini kit perform outstanding thanks to the Gene chip within both of these mods. The screen is a little dark due to the protective coating so it may be a little hard to read outside. The smaller Alpha Zip Mini feels a little less comfortable in the hand and only has a maximum wattage of 120W compared to the full-sized Alpha Zip which can go to 180W. Apart from that, there is no difference in performance with these mods.
