Hello all, sorry if my question is off topic.

I've been exploring different testing methods for material strength, and the pendulum tearing tester has caught my attention. However, with advancements in technology and testing methodologies, I'm wondering if it's still a worthwhile approach.

Has anyone recently used the pendulum tearing tester or this elemendorf tear testing machine and if so, what are your thoughts on its effectiveness in today's testing landscape? Are there better alternatives or emerging technologies that might outperform it?

TIA!
