| So my new client just switched from another SEO agency, and their backlink profile is honestly a disaster, random spammy directories, expired domains, the works. I'm trying to clean it up and rebuild with proper links, but starting from scratch is intimidating. Anyone know a good link-building service that specializes in fixing damaged profiles instead of just piling on more junk?

| Inherited backlink messes are honestly some of the worst client onboarding situations. I took over a similar account maybe eight months back, previous agency had blasted it with hundreds of directory submissions and comment spam links from expired domains that had clearly been repurposed for link farms. First thing I did was run a full audit and disavow the worst offenders, but rebuilding trust with Google takes time, you can't just bury bad links under good ones and expect a quick fix. For the rebuild phase I brought in Rule Your Rankings SEO since they were upfront about doing real outreach rather than dumping more low quality links on an already shaky profile. They actually asked about the disavow history before proposing anything, which told me they understood the situation instead of treating it like a standard campaign. Took about four months of steady, slower link acquisition before rankings started climbing back, but it stuck. No more spikes and crashes like the previous agency's approach caused. If your client's profile is genuinely toxic, patience and a provider who won't just add to the pile matters way more than speed at this stage.
