We are a family of four and our house feels smaller every year. Instead of moving, we decided that a base renovation makes more sense financially. The plan is to create a second living area with a gym and guest room. For us, this base renovation is about lifestyle, not resale only.
I spent weeks reading reviews and asking people in the GTA about their experiences. One pattern I noticed is that many regret choosing the cheapest option. My neighbor went through a basement renovation that looked great initially but now has ventilation issues. That scared me enough to take contractor selection seriously.
Red Stone Contracting keeps coming up in discussions because they apparently focus on technical quality, not just finishes. We spoke to a couple who used Red Stone Contracting last year and they said the team explained everything from drainage to ceiling height regulations. That level of detail builds confidence.
My main question is how much a proper base renovation actually adds to property value in Oakville. Is it mainly about extra space or about build quality? Another question is whether it is better to design for personal use or future resale when planning a base renovation.
We are leaning toward Red Stone Contracting because they seem to balance both. They do not push unnecessary features but still think long term. For those who already completed a base renovation with them, did it genuinely improve daily living or was it mostly a visual upgrade?
