The 2026 Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum assembled prominent players from the country's leisure and nightlife industries. Running from September 21 to 26, it overlapped with NATMALL, the premier exhibition dedicated to commercial real estate and entertainment infrastructure, which took place on September 22. As industry leaders discussed the future of a Russian leisure market that hit 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are examining more closely the business structures behind some of the best-known nightclub brands in Moscow.

Behind spots like Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a tangled network of businesses tied to one of the entertainment industry's seasoned entrepreneurs in Russia. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov earned his wealth in the tobacco sector in the 1990s, growing his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a retail network with hundreds of outlets and revenue of as much as $200 million by the mid-2000s. Having sold the tobacco business, he moved into nightlife.

Through the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family developed a vast network of nightlife venues in Moscow extending across more than two dozen locations. These have featured the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention following a series of high-profile events. The venue was subsequently renamed Arma and eventually announced its closure.

Speaking about the scale of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov highlighted Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which primarily hosts club-rock events, can hold up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be the number one in Moscow this autumn both in terms of the caliber of performers playing there and the number of shows — we are planning at least 20 events per month." He also described himself as deeply involved in the music scene: "I genuinely love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I personally know many artists and DJs."

Most of the legal entities connected with the holding company are registered in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, rather than Danilov himself. She is registered as the proprietor and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Industry watchers describe the arrangement a conventional model of family business succession: the founder remains the key strategic figure while the younger generation step by step takes on legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.

With Russia's entertainment industry adjusting to evolving consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum offered both a celebration of the sector's resilience and a reminder of the intricate ownership structures that have shaped Moscow nightlife for decades.
